My love for Matcha: Soft Serve Society London

Hi there! Long time no speak, I can apologise again but I have been doing that quite often lately. I am just glad that you are still here waiting for me to write another story that makes your tummy grumbling.

I promised to blog consistently every Thursday and Sunday, but I haven’t kept this promise – please, forgive meeee –. I think it may be wise for me to schedule some posts in advance more and the only thing I have to do then is upload it.
The thing with that is, is that I am a person that changes her mind a lot: I can change my clothing three to five times a day; the same goes for my hair, and asking the man for some advise on what to do with my hair or what I should wear does not get me much further either ,, I don’t know?” ,,whatever you want,” ,,you look good in everything.” …..

It was time for me to get a haircut, my ends were split/dead and my hair did not look the way I want it to; dry ends, greasy scalp – sounds disgusting, sorry –. I made an appointment at Foster London in Shoreditch as this is closeby and the reviews were quite good, I finished work earlier than usual and had some more time till the appointment.

Shoreditch Highstreet has these cute pop-up stores in Boxpark with different products/concepts than usual stores. Wacky home decoration shop to Nail Salons, and from trendy clothing to unique designer jewerly, really worth it to have a peek and having some drinks and nibbles at one of the pub/cafes upstairs.
So I had a little browse around these stores and suddenly one of these stores catched my eye:

Processed with VSCO with f2 presetSoft Serve Society, I have been following them on instagram but never thought about where their actual location might be, and discovering it spontaneously is always the best way of discovering something.

The amount of space of the stores at Boxpark are fairly small and can get to ‘Too much going on’  very quickly. The way Soft Serve Society decorated their space was very minimalistic: soft coloured light walls with their logo and a couple of bigger-sized polaroid pictures; some lower tables with cute little plants on each of them and a bench across the wall to sit on.
They provide a clear menu with an awesome selection to choose from and made it hard for me to make a decision, and if you know me you will know that it always takes me ages to finally make a decision on what I would want to eat and/or drink. So it was not any different this time; I was the only one in there and I did not know what I should try first. But the Matcha items really catched my eye as I love matcha: matcha lattes, matcha ice creams, matcha-everything,

If you never had matcha before you should think about the flavour of green tea because it is basically a green tea powder, a special kind of green tea powder actually. Matcha literally means ‘powdered tea’, the green tea leaves have been finely powdered and made into a solution. It is rich in antioxidants (polyphenols) which claims to prevent/protect you against cancer and heart diseases. Sounds good, right?
The thing you do need to know about Matcha as well is that it may contain three times as much caffeine than your average cup of tea, this because you are consuming the actual tea leaves.

So I decided to keep it simple and try their cone with Matcha Ice Cream first: This beautiful green goodness on a cone and it tastes awesome! I honestly expected it to taste like any other soft ice cream with a little bit of the matcha flavour in it, but this was truly the matcha flavour as it should be!

You should take a look on their Instagram page, like I said, an awesome collection to choose from and you may understand why it took me a while to finally make my decision.

I will be back for more and I am dragging my boyfriend with me! – He doesn’t mind. though -.
